Affordable & Flexible Payment Options Take advantage of free events, low cost activities, special value times, discounted swipe passes and monthly payment plans for year-long passes. Family Friendly Programs Be active together with programs specifically designed for families. We also offer child minding, youth memberships, children’s birthday parties and a Family Recreation Pass offering unlimited citywide drop in access to pools, arenas, fitness centres and gym sports. Seniors Benefits Connect with others and join in on the fun with a seniors services membership for discounted pricing on registered programs, specific volunteer-led drop-in programs, bus trips, special events and services. Seniors 60+ can also stay active with a discounted annual recreation pass for access into all facilities. A purchase of annual recreation pass also includes a free year-long seniors services membership.

The Leisure Access Program provides an opportunity for City residents in financial need to participate in Parks, Recreation and Culture activities at a very low cost. MY FUN PASS During the school year, kids 2–12 years can enjoy unlimited city-wide access to drop-in swimming, skating, gym activities, MYzone, MYgame after school, on weekends, during holidays or any time school is out. Automatically expires June 30, 2019. $11 per month

FAMILY FUN PASS For one flat fee, keep the entire family active over holiday breaks. Valid for regular priced drop-in activities in the gym, pool, arenas, or fitness centres. Sales start December 1, 2018 for Winter Holiday break (December 22– January 6) and February 18, 2019 for Spring break (March 16–31, 2019)

For unlimited drop-in swimming, aquatic fitness classes, skating, fitness centre, fitness classes and gymnasium activities. Buy an annual recreation pass between December 1 and January 31 and get a free month!

FISHING IN SURREY LAKES Experience the excitement of recreational fishing in the heart of the city at three north Surrey locations: GreenTimbers Urban Forest, Surrey Public Wharf and Brownsville Bar Park. Learn to fish with a free program for ages 5-15 at GreenTimbers Lake, which is stocked with RainbowTrout. There’s also a free fishing rod loan program at Surrey Nature Centre where fishing rods and tackle boxes may be borrowed for up to a week. All residents 16 years or older must have a valid fishing license with them when fishing.

FAMILY FUN WAYS TO BE ACTIVE TOGETHER Unplug, Unwind and Reconnect Looking for an opportunity to take a break from routine and spend some quality time with your loved ones? Recreation Surrey offers many opportunities to help you disconnect from technology and reconnect with life through play and adventure.

DID YOU KNOW? We provide free fitness centre orientations. Just call your local facility for more information. The City of Surrey has received the Province of BC’s Child Care Award of Excellence. Youth memberships are FREE, and gives kids 13–18 access to youth activities throughout Surrey, drop-in gym times and much more. You can now take advantage of early registration to secure your spot in our drop-inYouth Hockey. We provide free swimming level evaluations during public swim times. Just ask one of our friendly lifeguards for a level assessment.

Get out and explore our nature trails and gardens, public tennis courts, youth parks, water parks, bike trails and more and stay active for life.

NATURE TRAILS Spot an owl or an eagle’s nest and watch for returning salmon at Bear Creek Park; discover the wetlands, grassland meadows, marsh and lake at GreenTimbers Urban Forest Park; or take in the diverse habitats at Hawthorne Park. YOUTH PARKS Whalley is home to three youth parks—KwantlenYouth Park, Chuck BaileyYouth Park and Bear CreekYouth Park—offering a variety of skateboard and BMX features for all skill levels. DOG OFF-LEASH AREAS Kennedy Park,Tannery Road Park, Bolivar Park, and the new Forsyth Park inWhalley offer dog off-leash areas with plenty of space to roam and play. Before you unleash your dog in the designated park space, please remember the off-leash etiquette. WATER PARKS Bridgeview Park, Bear Creek Park and Hawthorne Park spray parks are activated by push buttons when it is warmer than 20 degrees Celsius. Both areas offer many additional amenities, such as walking paths, sports fields and picnic areas. In the summer, don’t miss Bear Creek Park’s train and mini golf facility. OUTDOOR POOLS Enjoy a free public swim or book your summer swimming lessons at Kwantlen Outdoor Pool. Check online for dates and operating hours. TENNIS COURTS Check out the public outdoor tennis courts located throughout Whalley and City Centre. Some are lit for night time use until 10:30 pm. See map for locations. VICTORIA PARK BIKE PARKS Quibble Creek Greenway features a small pump trail, which is great for honing skills like cornering and jumping. Explore the gardens in Bear Creek Park, including specialty floral, ornamental grass and shade garden beds, or marvel at the various horticultural beds in Holland Park. Community Garden is at the northwest corner of Cedar Grove Park inWhalley. Drop by to explore the seasonal plantings and to chat with the local gardeners. Holland Park Twenty-five acre Holland Park in the heart of Whalley offers a variety of park amenities including large sports fields, new basketball courts, a playground, walking paths and picnicking areas. The park is also home to Holland Gardens, a large central amphitheater and water fountain. Holland Park is the site of many large community events including Fusion Festival: a two day long celebration of food and culture held annually in July.

Horticultural Gardens Regional Park is located on one of the few remaining large, un-diked sections of the lower Fraser River, delivering a treasure trove of ecological sights and sounds. DOG OFF-LEASH AREAS Freedom Dog Park lives up to its name, providing over 1.25 hectares (3 acres) of open space for free running your dog. Walnut Park  16175 80A Avenue The five-hectare park—located next to Walnut Road Elementary school between 80 Avenue and 82 Avenue—features a variety of new upgrades including: walking paths, two bridges, additional seating, tree and natural area plantings, and a playground with natural play features such as logs and boulders.

A number of trails provide walking routes through the park, and access to some great picnic areas. Walnut Park is a hidden gem, and could be considered as one of the more picturesque settings for a picnic in Surrey, particularly in the afternoon sun.
