MESSAGE FROM Mayor Brenda Locke The Summer Recreation Guide is your invitation to make the most of Surrey’s parks, sport fields, recreation facilities and programs. I encourage you to take or make the time to play a new sport or participate in a group activity. Whether it’s to better your fitness or learn a new skill, there is a program for all skill levels and interests. The City of Surrey is committed to building strong, healthy communities where people of all ages can be active and engaged. Inside our modern and welcoming recreation facilities, we provide quality programs led by highly trained staff, so that all residents may participate in a healthy lifestyle, regardless of income or ability. City Council is always looking for ways to invest in updating or building new recreational facilities, increasing parkland, and expanding our sport infrastructure. Here are some of the immediate items that Council has put into effect: Increasing services and hours of operation at our community centres Improving park fields for all sports including increasing usage Increasing our park amenities and maintenance; including park benches and bathrooms In this guide you will find literally hundreds of affordable and inclusive recreational opportunities for every family member. There is something for everyone to get involved, active and engaged. A healthy lifestyle awaits you in this guide and I invite you to make full use of the great recreation programs and amenities we have in Surrey.
