With pen in hand and a stack of blank pages before you, Surrey offers the perfect backdrop for a summer epic. Whether you choose to collect seashells at the beach, perfect your backswing on the tennis court, learn the art of photography or seek relaxation at an outdoor pool, there are plenty of exciting themes to explore. Plus, be sure to gather your favourite ensemble of characters to celebrate some of the City’s biggest events of the year. Every summer has a story; how will you write yours?

Soak Up the Sun IN SURREY

Clayton Dog Off-Leash Park 7011 188 Street During the dog days of summer, Clayton Dog Off-Leash Park offers the perfect spot to spend quality time with your pet. Fully fenced with separate areas for small and large dogs, the park includes grass fields, forest and bushes, paved perimeter paths, benches and a water fountain for your furry friend!

Bear Creek Park 13750 88 Avenue There’s no more quintessential summer activity than going for a leisurely swim. Dive into Bear Creek Park’s outdoor pool and splash the day away! After working up an appetite, head to one of the park’s seven picnic shelters and enjoy a meal amidst picturesque surroundings. Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers at the park’s gardens and take a ride on the miniature train during your visit as well.

Lionel Courchene Park 9839 155 Street Summer and baseball: a timeless combination. Organize a game or play catch with friends at one of Lionel Courchene Park’s four baseball diamonds. Bring some snacks to enjoy afterwards as you admire the park’s natural beauty.

Fleetwood Park 15802 80 Avenue Fleetwood Park’s water playground is one of the most enjoyable ways for the young (and young at heart) to cool off this summer! The park offers plenty of amenities for all ages; families will appreciate the park’s dedicated play areas and nature enthusiasts will admire the park’s Urban Forest—home to several unique plants and animals. A 1.8-kilometre trail loop also serves as the perfect setting for a sunset stroll!

Hazelnut Meadows Community Park 14069 68 Avenue Experience summer in full bloom—complete with a little twist of history. Walk the nature trails at Hazelnut Meadows Community Park and marvel at the towering Bigleaf Maple, Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir and Western Hemlock trees. Some of the gravel trails follow the former routes of telegraph poles, dating from the 1860's when the first European settlers arrived in the area. Be sure to keep an eye out for the Brown Creeper, a small bird species that’s often spotted searching for insects near tree trunks in the park!

South Surrey Athletic Park 14600 20 Avenue Looking for adventure this season? South Surrey Athletic Park’s BMX bike park allows you to experience summer in motion. The park has several trails, complete with dirt jumps, as well as a pump track area—both catering to riders of all skill levels. The park is also a popular destination for thrill-seeking enthusiasts, serving as the past host for several high-profile provincial races and events.
