DEPARTMENTAL OVERVIEW CITY MANAGER

MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the City Manager’s Department is to oversee the achievement by the City’s administration of City Council’s short and long-term objectives for the City.

KEY PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

The City Manager’s Department:  Provides advice and recommendations to City Council related to policies and emerging issues;  Assists in guiding the work of the other City departments;  Ensures a coordinated and balanced implementation of Council policy and programs;  Ensures that Council resolutions are addressed in a timely and fulsome manner;  Ensures effective financial management through the monitoring of the annual budget and the 5 Year Financial Plan and by reviewing the City’s financial performance throughout the year; and  Council’s priorities and high quality sustainable City services are delivered on a consistent basis to the City’s residents and businesses.

The City Manager’s Department also has responsibility for the following operational divisions/sections:

PUBLIC SAFETY The Public Safety Office is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring and measuring the impact of the Public Safety Strategy and providing leadership of RCMP Support Service and Public Safety Operations, including bylaw enforcement, animal control, licensing and corporate security. Public Safety brings city resources together with its partners to deliver programs and services that promote and ensure safety and wellbeing for citizens.
