Surrey’s Best MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS AND BMX TRACKS

DID YOU KNOW? That our 3 outdoor pools open May 14: Bear Creek, Greenaway and Sunnyside. The remainder open June 30. All of them are free to drop into for public swims. That Surrey has 25 free outdoor tennis court locations across the city, some lit for evening play. Plus the Surrey Tennis Centre has the only outdoor clay courts in the region. That there are cafés at Guildford Recreation Centre, Surrey Sport & Leisure, Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre, South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre when you need a quick bite!

Once a predominantly youth dominated sport, non-traditional bicycle recreation—including mountain biking (cross-country, free-riding, skills, dirt jumping, pump track riding) and BMX riding (urban riding, dirt jumping and racing) has been growing steadily in popularity across all age groups over the past 10 years. And thanks to the ongoing dedication and expertise of Surrey Off-Road Cycling Enthusiasts (SORCE) and other local not for profit groups, including Dirtwest and Action BMX, bike parks in Surrey have been carefully designed to offer a variety of tracks and trails to suit all abilities. For those just starting out, it’s a good idea to visit a local bike shop to ensure you have all the necessary safety equipment, including a helmet. A knowledgeable professional can also help ensure you have the right bike to fit both your needs and body. Once you’re suited up and ready to roll, your next priority is choosing which of Surrey's many tracks and trails to try first!

Invergarry Mountain Bike Park 11297 Surrey Road This local treasure is one of the Lower Mainland’s premier mountain bike parks. While it offers a range of trails to suit various skill levels and ages, it also boasts some of Surrey’s most expert terrain. Latimer Lake Park Trails 2786 192 Street Predominantly undeveloped, the park includes scenic cross country trails and is suitable for beginner to intermediate level riders. Cloverdale Athletic BMX Park 6330 168 Street A great destination for novice to intermediate riders. The facility includes a pump track, BMX half-track, snake run, jumps and freestyle area.

Port Kells Park Jump Track 19340 88 Avenue

Action BMX 76 Avenue at 126 Street A BMX racing facility built to international racing standards. It is maintained and managed by Action BMX, a Canadian Cycling Association, which hosts racing, training, and recreational programs. South Surrey Bike Park 14600 20 Avenue With dirt jumps and a pump track area, the popular outdoor recreation facility has held BC Cup cross country races and cyclo-cross events. Tot Pump Tracks Fun Fun Park 1472 128 Street Very small pump track for tots Panorama Park 12863 60 Avenue Small pump track for ages tot – 8yrs, with berm turns, and more.

Features a dirt jump area that is well-used and maintained by a relatively advanced group of riders. Suitable for intermediate to advanced riders, there are seven dirt jumps in total, with two berm turns at both ends of the jumps. Quibble Creek Greenway 13931 100 Avenue A multi-use pathway along the Hydro corridor. Currently under construction, due to Fortis BC pipeline project. For more info about these parks, contact City of Surrey Parks, Recreation & Culture or Surrey Off Road Cycling Enthusiasts (SORCE).

Port Kells Park  19340 88 Avenue Port Kells Park is a popular hot spot for outdoor sports and family fun, but did you know it’s also a park that’s steeped in history? This Surrey gem dates back to 1908, when the community of Port Kells was a small agricultural village serviced by the New Westminster and Southern Railway line.

Amenities include softball diamonds, an outdoor pool, a playground, great picnic spots and a dirt jump area that is maintained by local riders. The park also includes the conservation of the Latimer Creek wetland – a wetland and habitat conservation area makes up the southern half of the park.
