Surrey Emergency Program The Surrey Emergency Program (SEP) managed by the Surrey Fire Service, plans and coordinates emergency services and resources during major emergencies and disasters in accordance with the Emergency and Disaster Management Act. This legislation sets emergency management requirements and is intended to strengthen community resiliency in the four pillars of emergency management: mitigation, preparation, response and recovery to address the growing risks and destructive effects caused by large scale emergencies. Across the province, disasters and climate risks such as the global pandemic, wildfires, flooding and extreme weather are becoming more frequent and more severe, increasingly impacting people and communities. As such, emergency plans to address these hazards have been rigorously tested by this unprecedented level of exercise and response providing an opportunity for improvement to increase community resiliency.
