DEPARTMENTAL OVERVIEW CORPORATE SERVICES

MISSION STATEMENT To deliver high quality and efficient services to our customers through a spirit of innovation and team collaboration. KEY PROGRAMS AND SERVICES Corporate Services consists of key areas of our organization that support the overall core deliverables of the City including Human Resources, Information Technology, Legislative Services, Civic Facilities, Realty Services, and Communications & Engagement.

CIVIC FACILITIES Civic Facilities is responsible for overseeing the efficient, safe, and sustainable operation of buildings through renovations, repairs, and daily maintenance. This includes a broad range of tasks, such as conducting preventative maintenance, managing energy consumption, and upgrading infrastructural components to meet current standards. By ensuring that facilities function smoothly, Civic Facilities plays a key role in maintaining the reliability and safety of these spaces. In addition to regular upkeep, Civic Facilities handles projects of varying scale, from minor repairs to major renovations, ensuring that all work aligns with sustainability and energy efficiency goals. The team also supports long-term planning efforts, assisting in the design, planning, and construction phases of new buildings while proactively planning for future repairs and system upgrades. Through these efforts, Civic Facilities contributes to the longevity and resilience of civic buildings, creating environments that serve both present and future needs.

HUMAN RESOURCES Human Resources (“HR”) provides a broad range of services and programs to both internal and external clients, including labour and employee relations; recruitment and retention; performance coaching; learning & development; employment services; compensation and benefits; occupational health and safety; diversity; wellness; employee recognition; and managing the Human Resources Information Systems (“HRIS”). HR partners with other departments to position the City as an employer of choice and administers programs designed to support City staff and foster a culture that attracts, motivates, and retains staff, enabling them to contribute their best in a thriving and safe organization. REALTY SERVICES development of the City’s real estate portfolio. The Land Acquisition Section is responsible for the timely acquisition of land and rights of way for capital projects, park purposes and civic uses. The Realty Asset Management Section manages the City’s real estate inventory including leasing, licencing, and property sales. Realty Services manages the acquisitions, dispositions, and
