2024 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
INCLUSION
• Implemented a new Multilingual Communications Policy to enhance communication and engagement with multilingual residents and individuals with limited proficiency in English; • Developed a DEI roadmap to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion within our workplace; • Launched several eLearning modules to promote diversity and inclusion within the workplace. New eLearning module topics include Indigenous Peoples of Surrey and Unconscious Bias; Fostered staff awareness and education of the diversity of Surrey and strengthened our inclusiveness through a variety of initiatives and events. In total, 35 key cultural events and important awareness days were recognized in 2024; •
• Showcased the diversity of staff through storytelling campaigns that highlighted our diverse team; • Launched a recruitment campaign to attract diverse applicants for Surrey Fire Service; Published the City’s first Pay Transparency report that will create a baseline to help track the City’s progress in closing the gender pay gap and fostering a more inclusive and equitable workplace; and Launched a Digital Technology Hub, a free online platform that offers resources to help older adults navigate the digital world and make it easier to connect to services, programs, and people. • •
PUBLIC SAFETY
• Enhanced the City's security resilience through updated cybersecurity technologies. Continuous cybersecurity training for staff reinforces awareness of daily risks, helping to safeguard our systems and information against potential threats; and
• Assessed best practices in physical and operational security to equip City facilities with up-to-date and effective security systems and programs.
