2024 ACCOMPLISHMENTS

INCLUSION

• Developed Memory Map app for the public to share and discover places in Surrey that hold significance to the people who call Surrey home; and •

Worked with the Planning Department to apply and secure funding to research and implement complete communities strategic projects.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Filled a total of 11,000 potholes;

• Improved intersections at 45 locations to provide for safer vehicle and pedestrian movements, installed 29 speed humps to reduce vehicle travel speeds, and 8km of new sidewalks and cycling pathways.

• Cleared 7,741 catch basins to alleviate possible flooding issues; • Analyzed motor vehicle collision data to find patterns and measure Vision Zero mitigation efforts; • Worked with Surrey Fire and the Province to establish data compilation and sharing in support of next generation 911 emergency response processes; and • Delivered over $100 million of new engineering infrastructure, consisting of over 8km of road improvements, 27 km of repaved roads, 14km of new drainage, water, and sewer utilities, and expansion of our district energy system to service 12 new buildings in City Centre; • Updated Engineering’s Business Continuity program and documentation to include all critical business applications; INFRASTRUCTURE

• Received Council approval to enter into a License Agreement with Novus Entertainment Inc. and Beanfield Technologies Inc. to install, operate, and maintain telecommunication infrastructure within road allowances to increase broadband access and connectivity across the City, while also ensuring residents, businesses and the general public have access to some of the most modern connectivity infrastructure;
