CORPORATE SERVICES
COMMUNICATIONS & ENGAGEMENT Communications & Engagement is responsible for shaping and executing the City’s comprehensive communication and engagement strategies to enhance its reputation, foster positive employee experiences, and drive stakeholder engagement. The division is responsible for internal and external communications, employee and public engagement, brand management, marketing, media relations, senior leadership counsel, and organizational Legislative Services is responsible for ensuring the City conducts business in accordance with all levels of government legislation. This division is also responsible for carrying out the statutory responsibilities of the Corporate Officer as legislated under the Community Charter and providing direct services to City Council, City departments and the public. Administrative support is given to Council and to the various committees and boards on which Council members sit. Legislative Services also coordinates and conducts the municipal elections every four years to elect the City’s Mayor and Council. The division manages the City’s compliance with legislation, which includes ongoing management of the Corporate Records program, the City’s privacy practices, and responding to requests for information under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (“FIPPA”). change communications. In addition to regular upkeep, Civic Facilities handles projects of varying scale, from minor repairs to major renovations, ensuring that all work aligns with sustainability and energy efficiency goals. The team also supports long-term planning efforts, assisting in the design, planning, and construction phases of new buildings while proactively planning for future repairs and system upgrades. Through these efforts, Civic Facilities contributes to the longevity and resilience of civic buildings, creating environments that serve both present and future needs. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Information Technology (“IT”) is a strategic partner that enables secure, data driven, and increasingly Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) assisted services that scale with Surrey’s growth while strengthening operational resilience. IT provides modern, innovative, secure, and reliable technology solutions for the purpose of: • Enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of all City staff by streamlining internal operations and processes; and • Leveraging technology to deliver improved services for citizens and businesses, supporting a high quality of life, now and in the future. The division’s decisions reflect both existing and future plans that align with the strategic objectives of the City. These decisions are guided by industry best practices in enterprise architecture, sustainability, cybersecurity and resilience, and sound project and financial management.
