2025 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
INCLUSION
• Enhanced staff awareness, understanding, and acceptance of Surrey’s diversity and fostered a safe and welcoming work environment through a variety of initiatives and events. In total, 38 key cultural events and important awareness days were recognized in 2025.
ECONOMIC PROSPERITY & LIVELIHOODS
Received two national awards and one provincial award, which positioned the City as a safe, desirable, and engaging workplace: • Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2025 • Five Star Safety Culture Award for 2025 from Canadian Occupational Safety • WorkSafeBC Certificate of Recognition (COR) - 2024—2026
• Applied for and received external funding for facilities capital and operating projects. Received $100,000 from Fortis BC Product Rebate Program for the Surrey Sports and Leisure Complex RTU replacement project and $11,250 for the custom efficiency program implementation for RCMP Headquarters Skylight Replacement project. Additionally, received $52,000 from BC Hydro for the Energy Optimization DDC Base projects for Old City Hall West Wing , RCMP Headquarters, and City Center Library; and • Human Resources modernized the recruitment process by reviewing and updating hiring practices to improve efficiency, consistency, and candidate experience.
