RANKED CAPITAL PROJECTS

HADDEN HOUSE UPGRADES The Billy Hadden House is a City-owned heritage home located within the boundaries of the future Nicomekl Riverfront Park. This funding will support upgrades required to enable broader community use of the facility within the park. SOUTH SURREY ARENA RINK BOARD SYSTEM REPLACEMENT This project will replace the original board system at the South Surrey Arena. The new system will include an acrylic shield and a SoftCap rail system designed to enhance player safety. SoftCap is meant to provide a more forgiving surface at the caprail location of the boards, the most likely point of player/skater contact, where injuries to the head, chin, mouth and elbow can occur. The new board system will provide a similar viewing experience as traditional glass while improving safety for all skaters.

PARK IMPROVEMENTS This project supports the ongoing repair and renovation of existing amenities and the development of new smaller amenities in parks.

CHUCK BAILEY RECREATION CENTRE EXPANSION The Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre Expansion project, formerly known as City Centre Sports Complex, is currently under construction and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027. The expansion is adding a second gymnasium, a fitness centre, learning kitchen, arts and culture space and childcare spaces. This dynamic, innovative facility has been designed to be fully accessible and will also feature exterior amenities including a community garden, and a large lawn space for outdoor activities.
