SPIRIT Volunteer Opportunities Interested in volunteering in our adapted programs?The SPIRIT Volunteer Program offers meaningful opportunities to support individuals with disabilities in recreation settings.

Increase involvement and access for individuals with disabilities in our community in recreation settings Encourage individuals with disabilities to volunteer by matching them with a SPIRIT volunteer for support Offer meaningful and rewarding volunteer experience Provide opportunities to cultivate personal development and education Advocate and foster opportunities for inclusion for all members of our diverse community

ADAPTED SOCIAL RECREATION Volunteer to support children with disabilities in our group program including arts and crafts, group games, and gymnasium activities. Volunteers help participants engage with others and build social connections in an inclusive and positive environment.

ADAPTED SPORTS Volunteer to support participants in various sports such as boccia and wheelchair basketball. Volunteers encourage participation, support skill development, and help create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all athletes.

Surrey Art Gallery Volunteer at Surrey Art Gallery – Applications Open in August 2026

Want to be part of our creative community? Have fun, learn about art, and make friends in a supportive environment. Join us this fall! Here are some ways you can get involved: DOCENTS (TOUR GUIDES) Join a dynamic community of volunteers dedicated to enriching art education for children! Gallery Docents lead engaging tours of contemporary art for school groups from September to June. Participants take part in ongoing training with art educators, curators, and artists. GALLERY EVENT VOLUNTEERS Learn with artists and connect Gallery visitors with contemporary art and ideas. Support vibrant events like exhibition openings, artist talks, and family art parties. Share your passion for art with eager young minds! Assist artist educators in classes and camps for those aged five to twelve. Develop leadership skills, organize studios, and work with children. YOUTH DOCENTS Engage with contemporary art, hone your presentation skills, help develop education programs, and learn to lead. Heritage Services Applications for Museum of Surrey and Historic Stewart Farm volunteer teams will reopen on August 18. Join the team to work alongside staff during children’s programming, help with special events, or learn how to tour visitors through the farmhouse and our exhibits. City-Wide Special Events The City-Wide Special Events volunteer program offers opportunities to be part of exciting and diverse community celebrations. Highlights this spring and summer include Party for the Planet, Canada Day, Surrey Soccer Fan Zone, and Fusion Festival.

Aquatics PUBLIC SWIM ASSISTANT

Do you have your Lifesaving Society’s Bronze Cross certificate and are wanting to gain experience working in a pool environment before completing your National Lifeguard? Come volunteer at one of our indoor pools and help during our public swims. ASSISTANT SWIM INSTRUCTOR Do you have your Lifesaving Society’s Swim Instructor certificate? Are you wanting to gain experience teaching lessons at one of our indoor pools? Sign up to Volunteer and gain hands-on experience as a Swim Instructor, connect with future employers and develop your leadership skills. English Conversation Program Are you passionate about helping others and interested in promoting cultural diversity and inclusion in the community?The English Conversation Program (ECP) offers a positive and welcoming environment for newcomers, and people from diverse backgrounds, to practice English and meet others in the community. We are looking for individuals with strong communication and leadership skills to plan, lead, and facilitate an 8-week free English Conversation Program offered in select libraries.
