The City of Surrey is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible city, where people have barrier-free access to services and a sense of belonging. We have developed an Accessibility Action Plan to help guide the enhancement of services, programs, facilities, and resources, making them more accessible to all. WHAT WE WILL DO Make sure everyone can use our services, programs, and spaces. Create an inclusive space for everyone, including visitors and workers with disabilities. HOW WE WILL DO IT Offer clear information and services that everyone can easily understand. Design our buildings and spaces to be user friendly for everyone. Support our employees in assisting you effectively. Follow guidelines and use tools to create an inclusive and helpful environment.

The City strives to provide inclusive and supportive recreation experiences for all participants, primarily by City of Surrey staff or a community partner. While we do our best to accommodate individual needs, the City’s ability to fulfill support requests is contingent on the number of spaces available and staff resources.
The City’s ability to provide support may be limited where a participant:
Requires a high level of assistance (ex: feeding or toileting) Has complex medical needs
Exhibits behaviours that go beyond a recreational support scope, including actions that may create unsafe environments for staff or participants (ex: running from the group)
Alternatively, external support or family member/friend support may be provided. Please email inclusion@surrey.ca if you have any questions regarding your child or a specific program.
