Maintain sound purchasing practices and continue training on the Purchasing and Process Manual; Develop an analysis tool that measures “triple bottom line” accountability; Continue to manage debt; Implement Data Driven Decision Making (D3M) Program which will include assessing and implementing enhanced reporting, dash boarding and analytical abilities to assist business areas in meeting City objectives; Improve accuracy and consistency of departmental information; Promote education to the public regarding water meters; Ensure staff cross training is in place for critical roles in business units; Develop video based training material that is repeatable; CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY Maximize return on investment portfolio while adhering to all governing policies and legislation; Prepare and publish financial INFRASTRUCTURE statements garnering an unqualified audit opinion and address all audit findings; Conduct special audits as directed by the Senior Management Team, Audit Committee and City Manager; Provide expert internal audit services to other municipalities;
Review select financial streams to assess controls and provide recommendations for improvement; Perform annual review of current policies; Continue with releasing the Annual Corporate Audit Plan; Ensure sufficient reserves for equipment replacement costs; and Provide continuous departmental Procurement Awareness Training. Facilitate staff professional development and training; Continue to provide training and support to City staff on finance related policies and procedures; and Attend department managers’ meetings in various departments to discuss any finance or internal audit related matter. Take proactive measures to ensure City systems have accurate and complete financial information; and Assess and implement enhanced reporting, dash boarding and analytical abilities to enable modernized data driven decision capabilities to assist business areas in meeting City objectives.
