inter FUN Winter is almost here. What’s your plan for you or your youngsters to have a fun and active wintertime? From public skating at the new arena to swimming in Surrey’s only wave pool, we’ve got you covered. Some exciting updates are happening at the highly anticipated Clayton Community Centre. See what our recreation facilities have in store over the winter months to help you stay active.

ENJOY WINTER FUN AT urrey’ rena The City of Surrey’s arenas provide people of all ages and abilities with a wide range of safe and fun on-ice activities. Lace up your skates and join us for skating lessons, hockey programs, figure skating or just have fun with your family and friends while getting exercise.

Learn to Skate Learn to skate and enter the wonderful world of ice skating. We offer lessons to all ages and abilities. Toddlers can sign up for Boots to Blades, children, youth and adults can join Learn to Skate lessons. Individual lessons are also available for participants who prefer one on one instruction. Skating lessons begin on January 13 at North Surrey Sport & Ice Complex. Check out other locations in your neighbourhood on page 36, 39, 40.

Public Skating Public skating is for all ages and skill levels. If you are still learning, skating aids are free to borrow. Wheelchairs and strollers are welcome on the ice. Take advantage of our Value Skate at North Surrey Sport & Ice Complex - a more affordable way for everyone to try it out. Don’t miss our themed skating events with lots of fun on-ice games and activities. We also have a special family rate to encourage whole families to participate. If you didn’t pack your skates, no problem. We have skates and helmets available to rent. Just come out and have fun with us! 0-12 years Bring your own puck or ring to practice your hockey or ringette skills during this drop-in, non-instructional time. Players 12 and under must wear full gear. No scrimmaging allowed. Parents or guardians are not required to be on the ice but are welcome to participate. Limited to 26 players. Due to its popularity, advanced registration is encouraged. For boys and girls ages 6-9 & 10 -13 who want to play non-contact hockey in a fun, multi-team environment. Learn the rules of the game, practice your skills and experience being part of a team for an affordable price. All players will receive one skill evaluation session, 1.25 hours of ice time each week, and one playoff game. Coaches, referees and jerseys are provided at no extra cost! Need equipment? You can rent the full gear for only $50 per season (limited quantities). We will store the equipment for you, so you don’t have to! Stick & Puck – Children Powerplay Hockey League – Children

Recreational Hockey - Youth Co-ed youth aged 13-18 are invited to come out and play a fun recreational, non-contact game of hockey with your friends on Fridays at North Surrey Sport & Ice Complex. You will get plenty of playing time since space is limited to 20 players and two goalies. Teams are divided and supervised by on-ice staff. Goalies play for free. Advanced registration is recommended. 6-12 years Celebrate your child’s birthday on the ice! Skating parties include 2 hours of dedicated party space with 1.5 hours of ice time during public skates, games and activities on the ice led by birthday party leaders, fridge access and activity-appropriate party room, and skate and helmet rentals for children.
