City-Wide Special Events The City-Wide Special Events volunteer account recruits for new volunteers from January 1 - April 30, and we have lots of opportunities in store. With over 70 community events and growing, there’s always something to do. Check out some of our exciting annual events below:

THE VOLUNTEER RESOURCES TEAM WOULD LIKE TO ˜an„ you! Volunteers are the building blocks of a healthy community! We recognize the value of volunteering and want to thank all the volunteers for their continuous support and contributions to the City of Surrey. English Conversation Program Are you Fluent in English with previous experience in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) or simply interested in helping newcomers, immigrants and refugees practice their English-speaking skills? We’re looking for volunteers with strong communication and leadership skills to facilitate our English Conversation Program. The commitment is 1.5 hours/weekfor 8 sessions per season! Summer Day Camp Volunteer Program The Day Camp Volunteer account recruits from January 1 - April 30. Are you thinking about developing your skills, knowledge and experience while connecting with staff and children in your community? Take part in your choice of sport, art, dance, drama, science, and themed camps! If you would like to volunteer this summer, now is the time to apply. Begin your application today and don’t miss out! Aquatics Programs Do you dream of becoming a lifeguard or simply love to swim? Join our Aquatics volunteer program and assist with public swims and Learn to Swim classes. SPIRIT Volunteer Program SPIRIT volunteers support members of our community with disabilities to participate in Surrey Parks, Recreation & Culture programs and activities to improve their overall health and wellness. See page 83 for opportunities.

CANADA DAY Volunteer on July 1 at the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre for a day full of entertainment and family- friendly activities!

PARTY FORTHE PLANET Celebrate earth day with us by volunteering at the Party for the Planet event!

FUSION FESTIVAL Volunteers will experience diverse cultural food, arts & crafts, and entertainment at the Surrey Fusion Festival!

SURREY INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL

Check out our rich and diverse cultural heritage through performing and visual arts experiences at this amazing Children’s festival!

TREE LIGHTING FESTIVAL Rated one of the best events to volunteer at, the Tree Lighting Festival is filled with games and crafts for families. They will also be lighting Surrey’s 60-foot Christmas tree!

NATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY

This event brings together First Nations, Métis and Inuit families through a celebration of the culture and traditions of Indigenous People.
