Renowned artist Susan Point from the Musqueam nation makes art that celebrates the history and vitality of Coast Salish culture. On loan from the Vancouver Art Gallery, Spindle Whorl centres on the traditional weaving tool of the same name and features three decades worth of Point’s boundary-pushing print works.

An outspoken environmentalist and arts advocate, Surrey-based artist Don Li-Leger regularly returned to the subject of landscape, along with the flora and fauna that inhabit it. This exhibition of paintings and video from 2010 to 2018 demonstrate the artist’s passion and unique vision of nature, as well as the influence of humans upon it.

WINTER CLASS & INSTRUCTOR Spotlight Gloria Han

Surrey Art Gallery’s new Ceramics Studio Operator and artist-educator Gloria Han studies Korean traditional ceramics. She uses traditional craft to observe how traditions have been adapted and evolved to play a role in our lives today. Gloria earned her Masters of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has experience teaching adults, teens, and kids! Her favourite part of teaching is helping students take risks in their creative practice and watching them be rewarded for pushing their work in new directions. Welcome Gloria! Ceramics Classes With a new Ceramics Studio Operator coming on board, we thought it would be the perfect time to highlight our clay-based offerings for adults (see page 75).
