Volunteer IN SURREY’S PARKS Celebrate winter by getting connected to your local park spaces as a volunteer. Visit www.surrey.ca/volunteer to learn more about volunteering with the City.

Activate Your Park! Surrey has hundreds of community parks, playgrounds and gardens. Volunteer to keep them healthy, active spaces for all to enjoy by picking up litter, caring for a park bin, helping with a park beautification project, assisting at community events and more. LEND-A-HAND Calling all elementary and secondary school teachers! Teach your students about social responsibility and the value of volunteering by adopting a local park during the school year. Care for Our Urban Forest!

Surrey’s urban forest has over 75,000 street trees and over 3800 acres of natural areas. Volunteer to care for them by removing invasive plants, taking care of wildlife, planting trees, improving tree wells and more. JOIN THE SURREY YOUTH STEWARDSHIP SQUAD (SYSS) Are you a high school-aged youth looking for volunteer experience in nature? Care for the environment with our youth volunteer group! Elgin Heritage Park Spend 20 minutes or the entire afternoon exploring the many wide, flat paths and boardwalks that link the unique habitats of Elgin Heritage Park. View shorebirds from the bank of the Nicomekl River, look for muskrats and ducks paddling in the ponds, spot eagles perched around the estuary, and visit the popular barn owl house at the central meadow. Holland Park This park features tree-lined promenades, public art and beautiful winter flowers and berries. How many colours can you find in this winter work-of-art? Hemlock Park The trees are green all year at Hemlock Park! Walk along the nature trails to view some spectacular examples of our local Douglas- fir, Western Redcedar and Western Hemlock trees. While you're there, keep an eye out for the large nurse stumps covered in a variety of forest plants.
