THEATRE MAKERS CREATION WORKSHOP For Youth Are you hungry to develop your own performance through hands-on experience?

This one-of-a kind workshop for ages 15 to 19 —with weekend sessions in Surrey, Burnaby, and Vancouver—will guide you through a process of original theatrical creation using ‘adaptation’ as the theme. Be inspired as you work with professional performance creators and craftspeople across a variety of practices.

Professional theatre artist, Susan Bertoia, will assist you to distill and craft this inspiration into an original piece that will be performed at the final showcase in September.

WATER GUARDIANS by Susan Point In Surrey’s new Hazelgrove Park in East Clayton, a giant red umbrella stands as a focal point. This alumnium sculpture made by Susan Point is inspired by water and frogs, one of the artist’s favourite creatures. Songs sung by frogs have always been the indicators of the changing seasons to First Nations people of the Pacific Northwest. In Water Guardians , the frogs are welcoming the rain that falls through the holes of the umbrella as rain ensures their survival.
