CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY

 Received the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for the 2016 Annual Report;  Received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 2016 -2020 Financial Plan;  Received the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award for the 2016 Annual Report Highlights;  Continued to develop our the Financial System, upgrading the processes, adding increased functionality and continuing with overall process efficiencies;  Continued to promote and develop ‘CityNet’, an employee intranet which includes a document portal for forms, policies and templates, an employee directory with photos which provides an improved means of communication to all staff;  Reduced IT staff overtime by 25% for a savings of $138K through continuous improvement efforts, hiring of vacant positions, and leveraging technology whenever and wherever possible;  Issued 198 solicitations for various goods and services;  Continued to ensure that all relevant applications and technologies met the compliance requirements of the Pay- ment Card Industry (PCI);

 Piloted Electronic Signature’s, reducing printed paper & delivery cost,;  Identified additional technology solutions to address supply chain issues;  Simplified, clarified and streamlined the procurement process at the City of Surrey;  Completed evaluation to ensure that all controls and processes in place are ap- propriately calculating and applying taxes, levies and charges correctly;  Maintained modern technology platforms for the City by upgrading the following business-critical Enterprise Business Applications:  AMANDA—Land Management System;  Financial Management System (Agresso Business World);  Tempest—Tax & Utilities System;  PeopleSoft;  FDM—Fire Dispatch Management;

 CityNet;  Minisis  Theatre Manager; and  ServiceNow;

Upgrading these solutions allows the City to achieve reduced operational costs, provides improved information security, and takes advantage of best practices, enabling City staff to deliver improved service to the community.
