FUTURE INITIATIVES, GOALS & OBJECTIVES

PUBLIC SAFETY

 In partnership with the Public Safety Division, work with the Province to achieve a funded Integrated Services Network – a single location for administrative offices of justice, health and social services involved in the co-delivery of programs and services aimed at reducing crime in Surrey.

ECONOMIC PROSPERITY & LIVELIHOODS

 Identify applicable event grants and strategic partners to initiate national discussions and conferences in Advanced Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 that position Surrey as a leader and the Canadian hub of Advanced Manufacturing;  Apply for Invest Canada Community Initiative federal funding to develop the “Invest Surrey & Partners” investment attraction and marketing platform targeting a local and international audience;  In partnership with Planning & Development and Bylaws, work with the Province to create a comprehensive provincial program framework for supportive recovery homes;  Develop and launch City’s Economic Investment Action Plan Phase 3 by identifying key business infrastructures and investment opportunities within Surrey that will position the City to attract the businesses and industries of the future;  Complete the development of a comprehensive Government Engagement Strategy;

 Build on the success of Innovation Boulevard by expanding the focus to include additional sectors including Clean Technology;  Build on the success of the Greater Vancouver Clean Technology Expo and Championship and position the event as Western Canada’s premiere Clean Technology Championship through wider regional and international participation;  Leverage Newton Industrial Area to unlock opportunities for businesses to reduce energy, water, and waste as ‘EcoNewton’: hub for clean technology;  Build Surrey City Centre’s Financial District into the Lower Mainland’s core transaction hub by leveraging the presence of its existing five Credit Unions and Banks to attract increased financial entities and allied services firms;  Assist in the achievement of funding under Phase 2 of the Federal Infrastructure Program;  Secure Phase 2 Provincial Labour Market Partnership funding with SFU and KPU to develop a Surrey labour and skills development strategy to increase our local skilled talent pool;
