SUPPORT SERVICES Support Services includes operational communications (emergency 911 and non- emergency call taking and dispatch), records and exhibit management, court liaison, finance, information technology, crime and business analysis, facilities and fleet management, training and development, communications, and cellblock operations. Support Services also delivers various community services and programs including victim services, youth intervention, restorative justice and crime prevention.

2016 ACCOMPLISHMENTS

PUBLIC SAFETY

 Contributed as an active partner in the development of the City’s Public Safety Strategy and a number of the supporting strategic initiatives, includ- ing the Community Safety Centre, Code Blue and Block Watch;  Participated in numerous strategies and initiatives that utilized crime analysis to identify prolific and priority offenders and target enforcement and proactive patrols;  Continued to participate on the Surrey Mobilization and Resiliency Table (“SMART”) to identify individuals who are at an acutely elevated risk of harm to themselves or others and connect those clients to collaborative interven- tions and services; and  Conducted a series of road safety enforcement and awareness campaigns targeting hotspots and high collision areas, as well as dangerous practices and behaviors such as speeding and impaired and distracted driving.

 Responded (i.e., dispatched a police officer) to over 130,000 calls for service to either 911 or the Surrey RCMP Emergency line;  Implemented the Safe Cities initiative to enforce gun owner registration compliance under the Federal Firearms Act and also supported the provincial Gun Amnesty to help remove unwanted firearms, ammunition and weapons from the community;  Continued with enhanced visibility and proactive enforcement in identified hot spot areas to suppress low level gang and drug trade activity and related conflict between rival groups;  Continued to work with community partners on the Inter-Agency Case Assessment Team (“ICAT”) to enhance response to incidents of domestic violence through coordinated risk identification, management and safety planning;
