Fall Exhibitions AT SURREY ART GALLERY Experience new art, new ideas, and new media at Surrey’s contemporary art museum. Admission is free. Everyone is welcome. Connecting Threads September 22–December 16 Opening Party: Sunday, September 23 | 1:30−4pm From cradle to grave, we are surrounded by fabric— blankets, clothes, linens. What we create with fibre reflects who we are and how we experience the world. The diverse textile artworks in this exhibit—from a map of Canada in the form of a quilt to a deconstructed men’s suit—celebrate the human bond with nature, the deep relationship between the past and the present, and the importance of community and cross-cultural dialogue.

Maggie Orth: Moving Towards Stillness September 22–December 16, 2018

Textiles meet technology in these interactive sculptures! When you press a button, threads printed with dark thermochromic ink heat up and change colour, creating a vibrant tapestry. Visit and see for yourself! Orth’s work highlights the ephemeral nature of art and reinterprets the place of fabrics in our society. Join us for more exhibits and events including talks, tours, and Family Sunday—where families explore, enjoy, and create art together. We offer many fun and engaging opportunities to connect with the artworks and the ideas behind them. Find out more at surrey.ca/artgallery.
