We are proud to offer the skating Lessons at all City of Surrey arenas for all ages. Check out the Learn to Skate Continuum on page 32 to help plan which level to enroll in.
SKATING LESSONS FOR ALL
Snowflakes 3–5yrs Join your preschooler on the ice and introduce them to the world of ice skating in this beginner class. Using fun activities and toys, skaters will learn on ice safety, standing, falling and walking unassisted. Requires on ice support provided by an adult. CSA certified helmets required 3–5yrs Introduction to the basics of ice skating. Using fun activities and toys, skaters will learn standing, falling and walking unassisted, as well as an introduction to gliding. Helmet required. CSA approved helmet strongly recommended. 3–5yrs Build on the basics of ice skating and gain comfort participating independently. Skaters will learn walking the width of the ice, gliding, hopping on 2 feet and an introduction to the snowplow stop. Helmet required. CSA approved helmet strongly recommended. Preschool 1 Preschool 2–3 Strengthen core skating skills and build towards more complex skills. Skaters will learn the push/glide sequence, forward glide on 1 foot, backwards skating and sculling. Helmet required. CSA approved helmet strongly recommended. Preschool 6–7 3–5yrs Build more complex skating skills. Skaters will develop more confidence on the ice and learn backwards stopping, inside edges, forward crossovers and parallel stops. Helmet required. CSA approved helmet strongly recommended. Preschool 4–5 3–5yrs
Child 1
SKATING SKILL CLINIC Sign your child up to work on one of the core skills from our Learn to Skate program.These 30-minute sessions focus on one skill for maximized learning. Helmet required. CSA approved helmet strongly recommended. Forward One Foot Gliding Sign your child up to work on their forward one foot gliding in this focused class. For skaters in Preschool Level 4, or Child Level 2. Snowplow Stopping Sign your child up to work on their full and half snowplow stopping in this focused class. For skaters in Preschool Level 4, or Child Level 2 or 3. Backward Skating Sign your child up to work on their intermediate or advanced level backward skating in this focused class. For skaters in Preschool Level 5 or 6, or Child Level 3 or 4. Crossovers Sign your child up to work on forward crossovers in this focused class. For skaters in Preschool Level 7, or Child Level 5 or 6.
6–12yrs
Using fun activities and toys, skaters will learn standing and falling, gliding touching toes and knees, and an introduction to backwards walking. No skating experience necessary. Helmet required. CSA approved helmet strongly recommended. 6–12yrs Build on the basics of skating and gain comfort on the ice. Skaters will learn the push/glide sequence, stopping, forwards 1 foot glide, backwards skating, and sculling. Helmet required. CSA approved helmet strongly recommended. 6–12yrs Strengthen core skating skills and build towards more complex skills. Skaters will learn backwards sculling, inside and outside edges, and backwards one foot glide. Helmet required. CSA approved helmet strongly recommended. 6–12yrs Strengthen and perfect skating skills in these final levels. Skaters will learn forward and backward crossovers, backward edges, parallel stops, and mohawk turns. Helmet required. CSA approved helmet strongly recommended. Child 2–3 Child 4–5 Child 6–7

SKATING ADAPTED ONE TO ONE Supported lessons for participants with disabilities presented in partnership with Surrey Association for Community Living and Healthy Communities. One to one staff support provided within a group lesson. See page 93 for program listings.

Select Skating Lessons from the main activities page Narrow your search by age, level, location, days of the week or date range. Available courses will show number of spots available. Click REGISTER. Course is full if you see WAIT-LIST. Click to be added to the waitlist. If a spot becomes available, you will be notified by phone or email.
