EXHIBITION HIGHLIGHTS

In the Folds of Memory Oct 3–Dec 6, 2026 Through their distinct yet interconnected practices, Farheen Haq and Russna Kaur weave together stories of family, identity, and cultural memory shaped by South Asian motifs and patterning. Kaur’s expansive, multi-surface paintings unfold as layered narratives where colour, texture, and form trace complex personal and cultural histories. Haq’s time-based works in video, installation, performance, and photography invite reflection and reconstruction, reimagining her South Asian Muslim Canadian female identity through the body and lived experience. Together, their works create a dynamic conversation across textiles, surfaces, and images—opening space to engage with themes of belonging and transformation.

Cleave constructs woven sculptures using pine needles, rice grains, and hand-dyed fabric. Alfaro employs weaving techniques to deconstruct textile structures while using paint to trace and translate their material qualities. This exhibit considers weaving as an embodied practice where acts of making become gestures of memory, inherited knowledge, and self-exploration.
