Teacher, Niovi Patsicakis has been working to educate and improve the lives of Surrey Children for over 25 years. She lives in Surrey, with her husband and daughter. She works as a Teacher on Call in Surrey. Previously she was a classroom and learning support teacher and served as

President of the Association of Surrey Specialist Educators. She runs the Surrey Gifted/ Gifted LD Parents Network. Niovi has been a dedicated advocate for education since 2002, writing countless letters to media and MLA’s, presenting briefs to the government and School Board. Her 2014 petition for reduced class size, and composition garnered 36,000 signatures. Niovi is on the Boards of the Surrey Global Peace Alliance, the Canadian Peace Initiative and the Surrey Hospice Society. She is running for School Board to ensure that Surrey meets the court ordered staffing requirements for LST. She wants to bring an educators insight into Trustee decision making.

I bring many years of experience as a classroom teacher and professor, not only serving here in Surrey but internationally in Finland, China, and Japan. I served on provincial committees and helped write curriculum and evaluated

resources. If elected I will help build this district to be recognized for its education, the best-equipped schools and teachers, and the most successful learners possible. We want to better equip our city with skilled workers for trades and small businesses. We need to fast- track building new facilities to remove the 347 portables currently in use. We need to work with city planners and developers to keep pace with the growing needs in Surrey. I want to be your voice in the continued progress of your child’s education and the future of our city. I will give the Board of Education a new perspective and help continue to move the district forward with its rapid growth. Vote for Change… vote for an educator
