I have been a Fleetwood resident for over 30 years. I bring an excellent combination of community and business leadership experience to the role of School Trustee. I have 10 years of School Board experience and 6 years of City Council experience. I have also previously chaired Surrey’s

Library Board, Parks & Recreation Commission and the Surrey Crime Prevention Society. In business, I have over 30 years of management experience – currently Vice President of Operations for a charitable non-profit society. I am very proud of the accomplishments our board has achieved over the past four years including new and expansion schools for 7,300 students and the highest completion rate ever in Surrey Schools which is 6.6% above the provincial average. Through strong leadership, innovation and teamwork we will continue to create a safe, caring and inclusive environment for students and staff to excel, and for parents to be proud.

Our City’s motto is “the future lives here.” Our future is our children and they matter. With two children in the Surrey School District, I see how portables reduce access to the shared spaces in a school; limiting student’s access to library

time, gyms, sports clubs, and programs. Connection within our school communities is the best way we can reduce the risk for our students. We must do better, and I am committed to ensuring our students feel safe and supported within their school communities. With 20 years of experience in the non-profit sector and my leadership skills working with educators, community groups, and different levels of government, I can make positive change for our students. On October 20th, vote for Mary-EmWaddington of Surrey Students NOW . Together, we can be the change we need for our future, because our kids matter.
