Burns Bog Conservation Society is committed to protecting peatlands worldwide through their education programs. The Society hosts school programs and outdoor events throughout the year to connect children and adults with nature. Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society BC is Canada’s only nationwide charity dedicated solely to the protection of our public land and water, and ensuring our parks are managed to protect the nature within them

Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC is a non-profit organization dedicated to the enhancement and conservation of BC’s freshwater fish resources for the benefit of the public. Friends of Semiahmoo Bay Society is a nonprofit group of community volunteers working together for common environmental conservation, restoration and educational goals. Their focus is the marine, estuarine and watershed ecosystems of Boundary Bay (including the Fraser River estuary). Friends of Semiahmoo Heritage Trail are active stewards of the

Green Club is a group of environmentally- concerned Taiwanese and Chinese Canadians. Ocean Park Beautification Committee is a group of Ocean Park area residents that focuses on preserving the tree canopy and green spaces by promoting environmental awareness and the value of mature trees in the Ocean Park neighbourhood. Ocean Park Community Orchard is dedicated to bringing neighbours together to plan, plant, and nurture nature in the community. They organize planting events and educational workshops as well as run a community orchard which grows and distributes food for local organizations such as the food bank. O.W.L Rehabilitation Society is a non-profit organization whose volunteers are dedicated to public education and the rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned raptors. Parks Canada protect and present nationally significant examples of Canada’s natural and cultural heritage and foster public understanding, appreciation and enjoyment in ways that ensure their ecological and commemorative integrity for present and future generations.

Salmon Habitat Restoration Program (SHaRP) can be found in the community annually from April to November educating businesses and community members about salmon stewardship and enhancing Surrey’s fish habitat. has promoted a conservation- minded approach to outdoor recreation for 60 years. Current projects include restoring the Little Campbell River and maintaining the Little Campbell Hatchery, the first all-volunteer run hatchery in BC. Serpentine Enhancement Society is committed to enhancing and rebuilding all vulnerable fish species in the Serpentine River and to educating about protecting the health of the river. The Tynehead Hatchery is completely volunteer operated. Semiahmoo Fish and Game Club

is a world leader in the development and online distribution of live streaming webcams installed in Bald Eagle nests across southwestern British Columbia. Their mission is to promote the conservation of wildlife and habitats through science, education, and stewardship. Honeybee Centre is a local commercial honey farm, a country store, honey packing facility, and visitor attraction all in one. They aim to bring the fascinating world of the honeybee to the public through field trips, tours, and presentations. Invasive Species Council of Metro Vancouver is non-profit society composed of members from the public, stewardship organizations and all levels of government working to improve the way invasive species are managed in Metro Vancouver. Little Campbell Watershed Society is a partner organization made up of stakeholder groups in the watershed and concerned community members. LCWS focuses on activities to preserve, enhance and restore fish, wildlife, water resources and green spaces within the watershed. Lynn Pollard is a local naturalist who has been leading monthly birding walks throughout Surrey parks for well over a decade. groups, contractors, academic institutions, nurseries, non-profit

Nature Conservancy of Canada is Canada’s leading national land conservation organization. NCC is a private, non-profit organization that partners with individuals, corporations, other non-profit organizations and governments at all levels to protect our most important natural treasures — the natural areas that sustain Canada’s plants and wildlife. Nicomekl Enhancement Society is a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the Nicomekl watershed. Through the release of thousands of salmon every year, improving habitat and promoting community involvement they help the river to continue to be a flourishing urban waterway. Northern Spotted Owl Breeding Program aims to save BC’s endangered Spotted Owl through a captive breeding and release program. The program was established in 2007 and aims to release 10-20 owls into the wild each year.

Sunnyside Acres Heritage Society is actively involved in stewarding Sunnyside

Acres Urban Forest Park. The Society undertakes many habitat enhancement projects, guided walks and community outreach programs in the park and adjacent green spaces.

Surrey’s Natural Areas Partnership (SNAP)

Surrey Seed Library is a group that offers free

access to seeds and supports local gardeners in saving seed at home. The SSL is a living community seed exchange that enables both giving and receiving seeds to community members.

Surrey Urban Farmers’ Market

is dedicated to increasing community access to fresh,

local food. The weekly Saturday market, located at Surrey Civic Plaza, provides a vibrant shopping experience with live music, kids’ activities and allows farmers, artisans and customers to meet face to face. SurreyYouth Stewardship Squad (SYSS) is a group of high school-aged volunteers who help protect and care for nature in Surrey. Their projects include removing invasive plants, helping wildlife, planting native trees and shrubs, and planning educational projects White Rock and Surrey Naturalists Society is a non-profit group founded in 1973. Their mission is to enjoy and protect nature through education and stewardship programs, including guided walks, shoreline clean-ups, tree plantings and more.
