Don Christian Park 6220 184 Street

Enjoy the latest upgrades to Don Christian Park in Cloverdale this fall. Bring your children to the newly constructed playground for some afterschool entertainment or test out the new volleyball court, added this spring, to enjoy a fun fall activity with friends and family.The park features plenty of other amenities to recreate, including two soccer fields, a basketball court, walking paths and lots of open lawn areas to relax.

Newton Community Centre 6965 King George Boulevard

A brand-new community centre is coming to Newton, with an anticipated completion date of 2025.The initial development of the multi-phase project will include a 50-metre swimming pool, a hot tub and multi-purpose space.The new pool will offer length swimming and a variety of programming opportunities. With a focus on inclusivity and accessibility, the facility will embrace the diverse culture of Surrey while prioritizing sustainability. Learn more about the project at surrey.ca/engage.

Nicomekl Riverfront Park 3435 150 Street

Bear Creek Athletics Centre 13750 88 Avenue This fall, construction will begin on a new state-of- the-art athletics centre at Bear Creek Park.The centre will boast a partially covered, 2,200 seat grandstand– with the possibility of additional seating for larger events.The grandstand will house changerooms, officials’ rooms and equipment storage, as well as public washrooms, a ticketing office and concession facilities.The project will also include a modernized track and new synthetic turf field with an expected completion date of late next year. Cloverdale Sport & Ice Complex 6090 176 Street Construction is underway for a new destination ice complex in Cloverdale.The facility will provide additional ice for hockey, figure skating, public lessons, skating lessons and dry-floor use for lacrosse, ball hockey and more during the summer. With an anticipated opening of early 2024, the twin- sheet arena will be built with high-quality design materials and will feature improved accessibility for residents; a new roadway extension with onsite parking will support the upgrade.

Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre Expansion 13458 107A Avenue Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre is expanding! The centre’s multi-phase expansion will help meet growing recreation needs in the City Centre/North Surrey area with new indoor and outdoor amenities. A widened range of recreation, sports, arts and culture programming will facilitate enhanced learning and social opportunities for residents. Construction is projected to begin this fall/winter with a completion date of 2025.

A new 3km riverfront park is planned for the south side of the Nicomekl River in South Surrey. Extending from Elgin Road to 40 Avenue, the future nature park will be 80 acres in size–14 times larger than Crescent Beach Park. A sustainable design approach will help protect flora, fauna, creeks and the park’s natural water system, with the ability to accommodate variables associated to climate change.The park will incorporate environmental, cultural, art, heritage, recreation and social spaces for a one-of-a-kind riverfront attraction.
