DP1.1 COMMON GUIDELINES
Site Landscaping Within a development, the following elements shall be considered in the Site Design: 39.
ALL TYPES: Identify, preserve and in- corporate healthy stands of mature trees into the overall site landscaping design. (illustr.) ALL TYPES: Retain unique or culturally or historically important trees or vegeta- tion and nesting areas on the develop- ment site. ALL TYPES: Provide a coordinated group of furnishings to match the overall character of the development and site features, (e.g. bike racks, signs, garbage enclosures, benches, waste receptacles and tree grates). ALL TYPES: Site landscaping design should consider the context of surround- ing properties where there is a dominant pattern along the street (e.g. provide tree rows and landscaping consistent with the established or emerging stand- ards along the street or within an adja- cent neighbourhood). ALL TYPES: Use landscaping and land- scape materials to conform to the most current version of the British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects/British Columbia Landscaping and Nursery As- sociation’s British Columbia Landscape Standards (as amended). 44. ALL TYPES: Ensure sufficient in-ground planters are provided for full, healthy tree growth. (illustr.) 45. ALL TYPES: Locate trees no closer than 2 m from a building face, building foundation or retaining wall. Use only small growing tree species between 2 m to 3 m from the building setback; use medium growing tree species between 3 m and 4 m; and use large growing tree species beyond 4 m. 40. 41. 42. 43.
