SFS Annual Report 2025

Firefighting Workshops In 2025, the Surrey Fire Services enhanced its workshop program to include individuals aged 18 and older who are interested in pursuing a career in firefighting. These workshops are accessible to all, regardless of background or previous experience, and are designed to accommodate participants at various stages—from those new to the field to those aiming to advance their practical firefighting abilities. The information session and practical experience workshop provides a thorough overview of the firefighting profession. It introduces key aspects of the role, details the standard recruitment process, and offers hands-on opportunities to perform essential duties, such as operating a self-contained breathing apparatus during typical job tasks. The physical test workshop reviews the firefighter assessment requirements and enables participants to practice each testing station under the guidance of a Surrey Firefighter. The skills practice workshop delivers direct, hands-on experience with equipment and activities commonly encountered in firefighting, further supporting skill development for participants.
