SPIRIT Program The Support Participation and Inclusion: Reach-out, Involve, and Transform (SPIRIT) Volunteer Program aims to:

Do you have your Bronze Cross certificate and are in the process of becoming a lifeguard? Come volunteer at one of the five indoor pools and gain valuable experience on deck.The Public Swim Assistant volunteers help to provide a safe and fun environment for community members during public swim sessions. ASSISTANT SWIM INSTRUCTORS Following the Lifesaving Society’s ‘Swim for Life’ program, these in-water Swim Instructor Assistants will be actively helping in a swimming lesson. Volunteers in this Assistant Swim Instructor position will be learning valuable hands-on experience for their future lifeguard/swim instructor jobs. Now accepting volunteers at each of the indoor pools. Arts-Surrey Art Gallery Do you find art captivating? Why not try something new and volunteer at the Gallery! Have fun, learn about art, and make friends in a supportive environment. DOCENTS (TOUR GUIDES) Join a dynamic community of volunteers dedicated to enriching art education for children! Gallery Docents lead engaging tours of contemporary art for school groups from September to June. Participants take part in ongoing training with art educators, curators, and artists. GALLERY EVENT VOLUNTEERS Learn with artists and connect Gallery visitors with contemporary art and ideas. Support vibrant events like exhibition openings, artist talks, and family art parties. CHILDREN’S ART PROGRAM ASSISTANTS (CAPA) Share your passion for art with eager young minds! Assist artist educators in classes and camps for those aged five to twelve. Develop leadership skills, organize studios, and work with children. YOUTH DOCENTS Explore contemporary art, hone your presentation skills, help develop education programs and learn to lead. Enhance exhibitions through activities that are both fun and educational. Applications are being accepted now for upcoming programs. ADAPTED SOCIAL RECREATION Volunteer to support children with disabilities in participating activities such as crafts, painting, games in the gymnasium and much more. Learn new skills in communicating visually and verbally to provide the best experience for participants. ADAPTED SPORTS Volunteer supports participants in various sports such as boccia, para ice hockey, wheelchair basketball, and power soccer. Learn support strategies, learn new physical skills while having a great time.

Increase involvement and access for individuals with disabilities in our community in recreation settings Encourage individuals with disabilities to volunteer by matching them with a SPIRIT volunteer for support Offer meaningful and rewarding volunteer experience Provide opportunities to cultivate personal development and education Advocate and foster opportunities for inclusion for all members of our diverse community

Heritage Services HERITAGE ACTIVITY ASSISTANT 14yrs+ Looking for a unique way to get volunteer hours for school? Try joining the Historic Stewart Farm team! Perform heritage demos like butter churning and apple peeling, run craft and activity stations during events, and enhance drop in and booked tour experiences for visitors. You’ll also gain experience working with kids by helping at our summer camps. All training provided. TEXTILE VOLUNTEER AT MUSEUM OF SURREY 19yrs+ Do you like to keep your hands busy with sewing, knitting or other textile work? Do you have experience spinning or weaving? We’d love to have you join theTextile volunteer team at Museum of Surrey! Demonstrate textile arts in studio, assist instructors and visitors during registered textile programs, or answer questions and engage the public during special events and programs. Summer Day Camp Volunteer Make a positive impact while connecting with children in our community.Take part in your choice of sport, art, dance, drama, science and themed camps this summer! Work closely with City staff to develop your skills, knowledge and experience. Dates, times, and locations are flexible!

Emergency Support Services (ESS) Emergency Support Services (ESS) is designed to provide immediate support to people affected by disasters. ESS offers short-term assistance including shelter, food, clothing, and family reunification to evacuees displaced from their homes. In Surrey, the ESS Level 2 program (supporting larger scale emergencies) is delivered by staff and assisted by volunteers who connect directly with evacuees at temporary reception centres in City facilities. Volunteers must be 18+ to be part of this position. For more information, please email ESS@surrey.ca English Conversation Program Are you experienced in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), or passionate about supporting newcomers in practicing their English-speaking skills? The City of Surrey is seeking volunteers with strong communication and leadership abilities to facilitate

our in-person and online programs. Volunteer responsibilities include: Leading friendly, interactive sessions that

encourage conversation and cultural exchange Committed to 1.5 hours per week for 8 sessions. Help create a welcoming environment where newcomers can practice English, build confidence, and connect with their community!
