WALKit This project seeks to reduce social isolation and encourage active transportation (e.g., walking, rolling) by providing tools that focus on how seniors are going to and from their destinations within their neighbourhood. Ensures that seniors are able to take breaks to reduce risk of falling and to access events and areas they frequent interactive tool that seniors can use to find age friendly pedestrian routes across the city. TheWALKit Activity Program is a weekly walking and social club.We use the WALKit web-based map to plan out Age Friendly and Pedestrian friendly routes. We meet eachWednesday, and we explore and learn more about a different Town Centre each week. This is a great opportunity to become more active. Also, participants meet new people from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds. Connecting Generations Connecting Generations provides an opportunity for dialogue by bringing together youth and seniors of diverse backgrounds and cultures. The project facilitates the opportunity for dialogue within an environment where people feel comfortable to have conversations that would normally not be discussed and/ or addressed from various cultures and generations, while promoting learning, sharing experiences, and hearing each other’s stories.
