VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Arenas SKATING LESSON PROGRAM VOLUNTEER Volunteer alongside our experienced instructors as they teach their student ice safety, balance, and various skating techniques and skills. You will gain knowledge and experience while assisting with participants during lesson activities and games. ARENA SPECIAL EVENT VOLUNTEERS Volunteer at one of our themed special event public skates held on various dates throughout the year. You will have the opportunity to assist running various activities and games alongside our experienced staff.

Friends of the Forest Help care for Surrey’s unique urban forest. Become a registered volunteer to be notified about upcoming stewardship activities such as tree planting, invasive plant removal events and more. See page 88 for more information.

Partners in Parks Help keep Surrey’s parks clean,

beautiful and safe for everyone to enjoy. Participate in park cleanups, planting programs, community engagement and more!Your efforts will beautify our parks and motivate others to get involved. See page 88 for more information.

Emergency Support Services (ESS) ON-CALL VOLUNTEER RESPONDER

English Conversation Program Are you Fluent in English with previous experience in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) or simply interested in helping newcomers practice their English-speaking skills? We’re looking for volunteers with strong communication and leadership skills to facilitate our in-person and online English Conversation Programs. Commitment of 1.5 hours/week for 6 sessions each season is required.

City-wide Special Events PARTY FOR THE PLANET

Join Emergency Support Services (ESS), a dedicated rapid response team, that provides support to your neighbours immediately following a disaster or an emergency.

The City of Surrey hosts its annual Earth Day celebration ‘Party for the Planet’ at Civic Plaza in April. Attendees are able to visit various booths to learn about Surrey’s sustainable initiatives.

TRAIN IN THE SPRING, VOLUNTEER IN THE SUMMER Summer is fast approaching, and trainings are happening now. To get involved check out these great volunteer roles. Summer Day Camp Volunteer Make a positive impact while connecting with children in our community. Take part in your choice of sport, art, dance, drama, science and themed camps this summer! Work closely with City of Surrey staff to develop your skills knowledge and experience. Dates, times and locations are flexible!

Heritage Services Shout out to Surrey’s youth! Museum of Surrey and Historic Stewart Farm are looking to expand our volunteer youth teams to help with special events, kid’s programs, gardening and more. Get your volunteer hours for graduation and meet new people along the way. You don’t have to be a history buff to find something exciting and rewarding here.
