MESSAGE FROM Mayor Doug McCallum With the days getting longer and the weather getting warmer, summer is a perfect time to explore the programs offered by Surrey Parks, Recreation and Culture. Whether it’s learning a new dance step, a new workout routine or a new sport, there is a program for all skill levels and all ages. The breadth of recreational offerings in Surrey continues to grow as City Council continues its focus of upgrading or building new recreational infrastructure to keep pace with our growing city.Twenty-one capital projects have been approved by Council under the $428M Surrey Invests program.The following is a list of Parks, Recreation and Culture projects of the Surrey Invests program: • Newton new synthetic turf field, walking loop and changeroom • Newton Community Centre with Olympic size pool and land acquisition • Cloverdale Sport & Ice Complex • City Centre Sports Complex • Bear Creek Athletics Centre • Nicomekl Riverfront Park • South Surrey Athletic Park track replacement and new artificial field • ArtificialTurf Field replacement at five locations • North Surrey Outdoor Sport Facility • Disc Golf at Port Mann Park • South Surrey Indigenous Carving Centre • Sunnyside Reservoir Pickleball and Bike Park • New park shelters and washrooms • Crescent Park pickleball courts • North Surrey Indigenous Carving Centre • Outdoor volleyball courts • Tamanawis Park third hockey turf and changeroom The City of Surrey takes great pride in ensuring our residents have the opportunity to enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle, regardless of income or ability. Parks, Recreation & Culture Committee The purpose of the Parks, Recreation & Culture Committee is to provide advice to Council on strategies and activities related to parks, recreation, culture, diversity, inclusion, sport tourism and seniors' services in Surrey. The Committee consists of members of City Council appointed by the Mayor, volunteer members who are City of Surrey residents and a Surrey SchoolsTrustee.
