NEW & IMPROVED We are continually working to ensure our parks and trails are well designed and maintained to meet the needs of our growing community. This includes the creation of new parks, as well as the improvement of existing parks. Check out one of these recently opened or improved parks this summer: SALMONBERRY PARK 72 Avenue & 191 Street | Cloverdale Come enjoy this new park located between East and West Clayton neighbourhoods. Explore its charm with an adventurous timber playground and zipline, enjoy its gathering spaces. This park also features a community garden! FERGUS WATERSHED BIODIVERSITY PRESERVE 1277 168 Street | South Surrey Opened in January, this park is an ecological sanctuary composed of a variety of healthy habitats for native plants and animals. Carefully designed access to the Biodiversity Preserve provides opportunities for you to get outdoors and connect with nature. HELP KEEP YOUR PARKS CLEAN & BEAUTIFUL When you visit a Surrey park, make sure you pack out all your waste. This includes food wrappers, scraps, and packaging, including take-out containers and pizza boxes. PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT!

Join Partners in Parks and care for Surrey’s green spaces! Surrey boasts hundreds of parks and gardens, and everyone’s contribution matters. As a volunteer, you will: support events, lead outdoor games, weed garden beds, clean up litter, and connect with fellow community members. surrey.ca/parkprograms | pipvolunteer@surrey.ca Garden Work Parties 16yrs+ Come join our head gardeners as we tend to Surrey’s stunning feature gardens! Learn valuable skills like pruning, weeding, and plant labeling. No experience needed—everyone is welcome. We’ll provide the tools and training. Summer Park Cleanups All ages Make a difference and earn volunteer hours during our Park Cleanup events! This summer, we will be at various Surrey parks with supplies for litter pickup. Everyone is welcome, and we’ll provide all the tools and training you need. Let’s keep our parks beautiful together! Play Squad 16yrs+ We’re seeking energetic and enthusiastic volunteers to support outdoor fun. As a Play Squad volunteer, you’ll earn volunteer hours and develop valuable skills. Your role? Assist Park Play leaders in delivering drop-in games and activities in Surrey parks. Volunteer opportunities are available throughout July and August. Bear Creek Lights Event Assistant 16+yrs Volunteer at Bear Creek Lights! Join as an event assistant and develop confidence and leadership skills. You’ll work behind the scenes, facilitate activities, and guide guests through the light displays. Applications open on August 1, 2024.

Surrey’s urban forest has over 110,000 shade trees and 4,200 acres of natural areas. Become a Friends of the Forest volunteer to help care for our urban forest by removing invasive plants, planting trees, and more. surrey.ca/parkprograms | stewardship@surrey.ca Nature Work Parties All ages Get your hands dirty removing invasive plants to help restore and enhance Surrey parks! Meet new people, earn volunteer hours and give back to your community. Tools and training provided. Open to drop-in participants. SurreyYouth Stewardship Squad (SYSS) 13–18yrs Are you a youth between the ages of 13-18 yrs looking for volunteer experience in nature? Join our Stewardship Squad in caring for Surrey’s urban forest! Plant trees and shrubs, remove invasive plants, contribute to community science, and more. Summer tewardship Series All ages Join us for hands-on stewardship experiences at three parks this summer. Help enhance and restore ecosystems and discover the impact of your efforts. Materials and training provided. Everyone is welcome. Pre-register for the Summer Stewardship Series programs at surrey.ca/parkprograms
