The policing model should be UK based. No guns on regular Community officers, who can always call for armed backup. Officers number be increased by 400 and also old fashioned police foot patrol is important business districts.

The proposed new Surrey Police Department should be proactive and innovative, with an administration team of transformational leaders to set a standard for 21st century policing.

The proposed uniforms and vehicle look awful and dont project the right image of a police officer

The public should be fully engaged. We deserve to know what to expect from a city police department, including the differences in level of service and the associated costs, both transitional and operational. We are not getting that now. The RCMP already do a fabulous job. This scheme is a waste of taxpayers money and resources and is being forced through with no real consultation. 99% of these questions are biased to give you the answers you want NOT to receive actual feedback. The rcmp already provide a great service to the citizens of Surrey. Do not change. I fully support the RCMp The RCMP are a good police force we don’t need to switch to an unproven force with mo idea of costs The RCMP do a good job. We just need to give them more officers. The RCMP is stronger because gang violence and criminals cross borders. They have a wider network and can do a better job of working across the region and leveraging deep resources. The RCMP do an excellent job in the community and have tonnes of resources and we get them at a reduced rate from the fed government. If you were really concerned, you would request more officers. But the SPD is all for personal vendettas from mayor. The RCMP do build their career in Surrey and know the community well I am heavily involved in Block Watch and have an excellent rapport with the officers that I have had communications with. They're good. The RCMP has successfully addressed every one of the above survey questions. Proposing a new police force is a ridiculous abuse of power by a mayor who has made it very clear he does not care about the people of Surrey. (Cost$$$) The RCMP is doing a great job now. We don't need to change. The RCMP is extremely ineffective, statistics are lies, Officers are hired at low standards and unwilling to assist the public, most crimes go unsolved and files concluded without anything being done. Gang unit is useless, all they do is curfew check S. 22(1)
