Surrey Police Consultation Data

We want to the RCMP to remain. We don't support a Surrey police force. Surrey should stop immediately the plans to change over. I want Doug Mcallum and council to take to a referendum so they can see the residents true feelings on this subject. We will get faster response. A municipal force is a good thing. We will reap the benefits down the road with local home grown officers. We would like to know how this will effect the community fiscally. We want to see the actually numbers. Whalley area is still consider a high crime and drug usage area. Drug dealers and usage in the public area, especially around shopper durgs mart, nester market are common to see. What benefits will a municipal force provide vs those of RCMP? Any police force, whether RCMP or municipal must be independent of political influence and overview. What is it going to cost trough fully What is the cost involved! What it is going to cost the taxpayers. How well are the new officers going to be trained. By next July??? No way. That is just giving people the right to carry guns and hit the streets. The training the RCMP go through is tough and takes longer What new approaches will be taken to be proactive? Determine who the offenders are and then focus on new ways to achieve prevention.

Cost

What will the Surrey Police be doing differently than what the current police is doing? How will less officers with more cost be able to keep Surrey safer?

Whatever police force is recommended, you need more Frontline officers and police presence. Consider the New York model under Chief Bill Bratton in the early 1990s that worked well to clean up Manhattan. When you asked "Our police officers should come from diverse backgrounds..." I strongly disagree. It should be the individuals that are best suited for the role and have the best skills for the roll. Don't make this a PC moment to appease people. Where is the money coming from, not from us I hope.

Where will the money come from to get a police boat for the new canal?

Whether or not having a City Police force will actually be of benefit. I have not actually seen a compelling plan as to how gun violence and drug dealing with be dealt with.
