You all have done a very poor job designing this whole development of how to unveil a municipal police force. How about you first change laws and then consider establishing a municipal police force rather than saying and portraying the rcmp negativly You are fooling yourselves by thinking that things will change by changing the uniform. The brass of the RCMP answer to the mayor... He is still the top dog no matter who is in charge. This is what you want. How much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ?????? You have yet to prove that having a local force with all that will cost will change anything. Until you do I do not support this change. You need to listen to the citizens. Your numbers are skewed. A municipal police force will be far more expensive then the RCMP. Why have many different cities in the Lower Mainland look at this option and not gone with it, the costs are overwhelming You should engage the public and ASK THEM FIRST whether we the taxpayers want to spend a huge amount to switch badges. We need more officers. Doesn't matter if it's rcmp who become surrey police. Referendum! You should have done this PRIOR to implementing what you are doing currently. Having a MBA clearly no one in surrey city hall currently has any clue how to systematically implement a project with community input and consultation. What is the cost? You should have increased school liaison officers. Police should be more efficient increase process completion times. Your problem isn’t who the police report to it’s the lack of officers. Point taken... why would you stop 12 more officers from being hired. It shows you are being led down a path of an leader. This is why I didn’t vote for you Doug! You're wasting tax payer's money. Youth should feel safe to talk to anyone about life problems, make a place so I they can. Also so everyone else can feel safe at night, and not the thoughts of being killed by a gang.
