Surrey Police Consultation Data

I don't see it necessary to switch to a city police, as the RCMP has done a good job in reducing the crime in Surrey in the past few years. And it will cost a lot of Surrey tax payers' money to switch to a new system. Hire more officers. I don't support this, Surrey should stay with RCMP, a referendum for surrey residents is needed before approval from the Province, all the facts need to be heard, what are the real costs, # of officers, cost of breaking contract with RCMP

I dont thin the city should move forward. The RCMP already has it covered - removing them means losing officers who dont want to give up their pension. It is the worst option for reducing crime.

I don't think a Surrey Police Department would work any better than what the RCMP is currently doing. The money to change to a SPD is needed in other areas of the community. Strongly opposed to the change. I don't think we need a new police dept. This is bullshit quite honestly. We need more RCMP officers not dickhead Surrey Police officers with chips on their shoulder targeting people they think are "criminals" this whole thing is a big fucking joke.

I dont want a Surrey police. Doug only got 33% of the votes. What the hell. How much is this going to cost?. And I want the rcmp to stay. All you need to do is hire more rcmp. U are putting the community in danger by not hiring more officers. I dont want to establish a new police force, leave the RCMP in place. As a tax payer this is just going to raise my taxes and not change a thing! McCallum you only got in as Mayor because the vote was split 3 ways! I don't want to pay a lot more just so the Mayor can take control via a Police Board. Keep the RCMP and fund more officers. Having a local police force will not make our city safer - look at Vancouver I dont want to see a Surrey police. Surrey has not outgrown the rcmp they have grown with it. Just hire more rcmp I don't, I think we should fund the RCMP properly. This is a huge waste of money. I feel like we live in a gang war zone. It seems like the rcmp is isolated and protects itself not the community. It seems they are not properly trained. I totally don't trust them and support the new police force.

I feel that the city should really try to decrease gang and drug use between youth.
