Surrey Police Consultation Data

I feel the current staffing levels in relation to our population is very low. We need more police. There has been too much violent crime happening. Police need the technology and tools. The traffic cameras need to be readable & clear I feel the we need to have more youth programming, community engagement and gang interdiction efforts that are not tied to calls for service. The City needs robust program to curb gang violence, visible presents, and enforcement and youth programs. I feel VERY strongly in keeping the RCMP in Surrey and DO NOT support Surrey creating their own City Police Dept. I feel very strongly that we should have a referendum on this issue. The tax payers should have the right to vote on this one issue. Our mayor is making this a personal issue and should not be the sole individual to make this decision. I feel very unsafe in my neighbourhood as I’ve heard gunfire on my street. I’ve also seen jaywalking happening on Fraser highway. Would like to see more police enforcing the laws and cracking down on troublemakers.

I feel we need to stay with the RCMP and hire more officers as opposed to a city police force

I feel we should stay with the RCMP. They are doing a good job in protecting Surrey. I have no children to worry about

I haven't been convinced that a municipal police department is in any way better than our current RCMP. Also - since this has been decided to have our own police, must be super careful to avoid abuse and/or corruption, proven problems other places.

I look forward to a police force that is held accountable to their actions and don't just I force the latest laws made .

I personally am not pro Surrey Police Force & feel that the community police force should be communicating actively with the RCMP with extensive sharing of information and not isolate themselves from what is going on in the surrounding communities. I personally have seen officers in whalley turn their heads on the homeless and drug addicts. It's almost as if it was a chore to interact with them. Officers response to 911 calls in my neighborhood has been declining since 2010 I prefer the police department we have as Believe over the years they have built up contact and know the City, I strongly disagree with bringing in another police force to replace the RCMP I would have absolutely no faith in a new force.
