Rajni Perera: Futures January 25 – March 16, 2025

Drawing upon the artistic traditions of her Sri Lankan heritage, Rajni Perera makes paintings and sculptures that imagine a dystopian future inhabited by mutated goddesses. From science fiction to Indian miniatures, medieval armour, and South Asian textiles, Perera gathers diverse histories as she looks ahead to an uncertain future threatened by climate change and looming social inequities. Reflect on where the Gallery is located—in Bear Creek Park—with a nature walk, taking note of plants and animals. Then sign out a bundle at the front desk and add your own interpretations of flora and fauna to the blanket.
