CONNECT WITH NEIGHBORS WITH CREATIVE PROJECTS IN CLAYTON

What is An Artist in Residence? This studio-based residency program invites artists to the Clayton Heights neighborhood to meet local folks and lead projects that bring them together. It supports artists to push their art-making boundaries and practice new ways of including others.This is also an opportunity for residents to tap into a network of other community-minded people, learn different forms of self- expression, and contribute to creative projects that reinforce social cohesion.

WHAT WILL KEELY BE DOING AT CLAYTON COMMUNITY CENTRE? As an interdisciplinary artist, Keely will be working with many mediums and methods to develop engaging, accessible, collaborative projects with community members across the Clayton Heights Neighborhood.These will include projects for creators of all ages - from kids to adults – and will range from pop-up programs and unexpected discoveries, to registered classes that cater to artistic growth and community connection.

Frequently site-responsive and engaged with questions of place, home, and belonging, Keely’s work aims to celebrate the potential for creativity and community in the place and people around her. Keely is Co-Artistic Director of experimental theatre company Popcorn Galaxies. She holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from Simon Fraser University.

Devoted to a thoroughly DIY process, Keely’s work includes immersive installations and interactive experiences. As a community engaged arts educator, Keely creates and facilitates participatory and collaborative artwork with community members and organizations.
