2024 ACCOMPLISHMENTS

EDUCATION & CULTURE

• Created a comprehensive Five-year training plan for all Bylaw staff.

Bylaw Bike Patrol officers on patrol enforcing the bylaws and engaging with the residents

PUBLIC SAFETY

• Enhanced a guideline manual to clarify the fire safety requirements for building owners wishing to provide emergency weather response or temporary winter shelters for the housing challenged population; • Enhanced the Street SMART program which resulted in better management of issues related to homelessness; • Increased media presence of Bylaw Services by developing an educational awareness and educational communications strategy related to common bylaw issues impacting residents, such as noise, illegal construction, commercial vehicles, and fireworks;

• Increased fines in the Fireworks Bylaw and executed a comprehensive social media, press release, and multicultural media campaign related to the use and sale of fireworks; and • Completed public engagement to engage with almost 4,000 community members to inform the development of the Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan.
