The City of Surrey completed new public artworks by Brandon Vickerd at Bear Creek Stadium, Lesley Wells at Totest Aleng: Indigenous Learning House, Anja Nov at Latimer Park, Edward FuChen Juan at Edgewood Park, Anais Lera at Surrey Nature Centre, and new public art street banners by Puneet Date & Andrew Talbos. Numerous private development public artworks were also completed in alignment with the City’s public art policy. In 2024, 14 different artworks were installed; and

• In 2024, $637,555 was awarded to 85 not-for-profit arts, culture, and heritage organizations that support the production and presentation of cultural programming in Surrey. This fund is important in supporting cultural activity and enhancing the capacity of local community organizations.

ECOSYSTEMS

• In 2024, the City planted 3,176 shade trees and 22,158 native trees (15,000 were seedlings) for a total of 25,334 trees (10,334 not including seedlings) to help achieve the City’s canopy cover target of 30% by 2038. The City was also recognized as a member of the Tree Cities of the World program for the fifth consecutive year. This program recognizes Surrey’s commitment to celebrating, properly maintaining and sustainably managing our urban forest.
