PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT

PUBLIC SAFETY

• Continued to support the accelerated delivery of the future New Surrey Hospital and BC Cancer Centre in Cloverdale, with continued support for Fraser Health Authority and their project team to guide their building permits to approval; and

• Continued to resolve non-permitted construction, streamlining citizen complaints, inquiries, and follow-up by establishing new processes to align activities and responses between the Building Division, Bylaw Division, and Legal Services Division.

• Provided an update on the Climate Change Action Strategy one-year after its implementation; • Developed approaches to further support the development of energy- efficient buildings of the future; • Reviewed policy around streamside and riparian area protection measures; and Developed and implemented communication campaigns, based on common application deficiencies, improving and leveraging online resources available for citizens; • Performed a review of commonly used forms and checklists, seeking to improve the usability of the forms and to foster a complete submission; EDUCATION & CULTURE •

• Reviewed and made improvements to the Advisory Design Panel (“ADP”)

review process such that some projects are eligible to advance to Council ahead of ADP review.

• Developed a Plumbing performance monitoring program, to equip staff with insights on key performance metrics to support proactive services to plumbing contractors; and • Prioritized Surrey School District Building Permit applications to meet the increased student enrolment demands within the City.
