FUTURE INITIATIVES, GOALS & OBJECTIVES
INCLUSION
• Add Indigenous artwork to City Centre and Ocean Park branches; • Continue to implement Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility initiatives and training;
• Increase access to world language collections by adding records in more languages to the online catalogue; and • Open Newcomer Welcome Centre to improve newcomer integration.
Implement translation strategy;

PUBLIC SAFETY
• Maintain service to Surrey’s vulnerable and newcomer populations with targeted outreach and in-library programs and promotions of Access Cards; • Offer training on AI, misinformation and disinformation; •
Add CO2 monitors and light therapy lamps to our Tech to Go collection; and • Adopt sustainable practices and complete actions for Sustainable Libraries Initiative certification.
ECONOMIC PROSPERITY & LIVELIHOODS
• Improve access to digital and physical tools and content; and • Provide adult programming supporting
entrepreneurs, job seekers, and employment skills development.
EDUCATION & CULTURE
• Launch Writer in Residence program; and • Support digital literacy development.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Plan for increasing library space in Fleetwood;
• Introduce credit/debit payment options for printing and photocopying; and • Support the City on initiatives to serve people facing barriers.

• Plan for new Newton branch as part of the new Newton Community Centre;
