TRANSPORTATION
HEALTH & WELLNESS
• Constructed over 7.6 km of protected cycling network across the City on various road improvement projects such along 148 Street, 64 Avenue and 80 Avenue widening; and •
Launched Surrey’s first electric bike share program at Party for the Planet. Since late April, there have been over 13,000 rides. Residents are riding to SkyTrain, shopping centres, and major parks.
INFRASTRUCTURE
• Implemented Surrey’s first cycling wayfinding program in City Centre and Guildford to support Bike Share; • Introduced a new local bike route on 103 Avenue linking City Centre and Guildford with pavement markings and wayfinding signage; • Completed transit priority projects at 152 Street & 96 Avenue and 128 Street & 96 Avenue to make transit service faster and more reliable; • Identified the Top 40 sidewalk upgrades around local Surrey schools to help school kids walk to school safely; • Collaborated with the Ministry of Transportation for the development of • Tendered the first package of supportive infrastructure works for the Surrey-Langley Skytrain project; • Constructed arterial improvements of 148 Street (58 Avenue to 64 Avenue) including protected pedestrian and cycling facilities in coordination with opening of a new elementary school; concept designs of Highway 99 interchange ramps at 24 Avenue;
• Continued phased widening of 32 Avenue with the segment between 184 Street to 188 Street; • Delivered approximately 56.4 lane-km of: local (9.1 lane-km), collector (8.8 lane-km), arterial (9.7 lane-km), and Major Road Network (“MRN”) (28.8 lane-km) road pavement rehabilitation for $10.53 million; • Delivered 4.5 km sidewalk/walkway and 7.6 km of new cycling infrastructure; • Delivered 20 lane-km of new roads; • As part of routine road maintenance, repaired 11,500 potholes, cleared 7,500 catch basins, and placed 5.5 linear KM of crack seal; and • Delivered Year Two of the short-term Transportation Priority projects such as the construction of 80 Avenue arterial widening, and the new 72 Avenue road connection onto Fraser Highway.
