• Delivered joint road safety education and engagement campaigns with our Vision Zero Surrey partners, with a particular focus on pedestrian safety, distracted driving, speeding and back to school; • Initiated a Walking School Bus pilot project in partnership with TransLink at Lena Shaw Elementary School;

implement Walking Wednesdays at Strawberry Hill and Latimer Road Elementary to encourage safe walking and biking to school; and • Delivered bike education and safety skills to Grade 4 and 5 classes at 10 elementary schools.

Started service planning and infrastructure design for King George Boulevard Bus Rapid Transit
Updated transportation demand management provisions and parking rates along rapid transit corridors in

from Surrey City Centre to Semiahmoo Town Centre;
the Zoning Bylaw to address provincial legislative changes,
streamline the development process, and support the City’s objectives for increasing housing; • Launched R6 RapidBus on Scott Road and 72 Avenue increasing transit service speed and reliability on the highest ridership corridor in the South of Fraser region; • Developed a future transportation network to support development of Neighbourhood Concept Plans for the Clayton Corridor, Fleetwood, Anniedale-Tynehead, South Westminster, and South Campbell Heights; and • Completed a comprehensive transportation review of the Newton area which includes signal timing coordination and an area-specific transportation modeling analysis.
• Initiated work on the Surrey Transit Strategy, in partnership with TransLink, which will develop a new transit network for Surrey to support the future growth and economic development of the City; • Began work on a critical review of Surrey’s road network/intersections which will identify improvements • Staff investigated 10,000 automated traffic congestion alerts. The data shows that the top five causes of congestion on Surrey roads are due to: roadwork (64%); seasonal traffic variations (10%); causes outside of Surrey, such as Port Mann Bridge congestion affecting Surrey roads (7%); traffic collisions (5%); and large special events (4%); needed on the road network to reduce congestion and enhance goods movement;
